Essentially, the building shall serve for technological purposes with processing and storage facilities in its larger part. Both the local landscape and the regulation call for an establishment set up of relatively small houses. The goal set for the design team is to create a building complex fitting to the wine culture and the landscape of Etyek. For the time being, there is a vaulted cellar in a poor, ruined condition on the site. This should be rebuilt in its original location using conventional materials as a pledge for local wine culture and other values of the place.
We have tried to arrange most of the plant and the storages under the ground level so as in its mass the building will not be alien to the landscape because of its large size. For the building emerging over the ground, we have visualized small building masses with gabled roof to comply with regulations. The width and the height of the gabled houses will resemble the rural buildings of the region also in terms of size for the sake of perfect matching. Therefore, the building will be divided into 4 units including the reconstructed vaulted cellar, the wine press house right next to it, the new part of the cellar with the technological functions also accessible from the old cellar as well as the office and lab block built over the latter.
